I just used the Smoke X for the first time and it is such a great addition. Well made, easy to use. The receiver range really is quite impressive. I like the accuracy, build quality and excellent customer service.
I love it.
No one can tough their customer service. I now have 4 thermopem ( 2 classic and 2 One) plus 3 thermopop. I also own This SmokeX4 which is awesome I just bought my brother this smoke X4 and a thermopen I hate jelly beans ......... my wife never opens my package unless its from Thermowork to get her jelly beans :-)
The probes are easy to use. I like the fact that I can take the temp in multiple parts of the meat and "average" for doneness.
The chirps are very loud. The unit won't recognize the Billows accessory at all. The different temperature settings take a few minutes to figure out,
Yes, you can turn off the Receiver. To power it off, press and hold the power button down for 3 seconds. (It is not a quick press, as it is to turn the Receiver on or to turn the backlight on.)
There are a number of differences between Smoke and Smoke X2 as Smoke X2 is newer and has many new features and improvements. The two most important differences include Smoke X2’s dramatically increased transmission range and its inclusion of control circuitry for ThermoWorks’ optional fan, Billows (sold separately).
1. Smoke X2 uses an all-new RF wireless technology with the strongest and longest signal available. Smoke X2's range is 6,562 feet (1.24-mile) line-of-sight; Smoke's range is 300 line-of-sight.
2. Smoke X 2 includes control circuitry to run the optional Billows fan; Smoke does not.

The temperature sensor is at the very tip of the probe, so you only need to insert it until it reaches the coolest spot which is generally in the center of the meat.
Those are magnets.
Smoke X2’s batteries will last approximately 330 hours, so you will have plenty of time to complete an overnight cook. When you are using the 12V AC Adapter, all of the power needed to run Billows and Smoke X2 come from the power source the Adapter is plugged into. The batteries are not involved at that point.
Yes, it sure can!
No, Smoke X2 and Smoke X4 will not have Wi-Fi capability.
Yes, this can be used to monitor room temperature. It can accurately monitor any temperature between the probe's specs, -58 to 572°F (-50 to 300°C).
Gift for my son. He enjoys using his dad's and wants one of his own.
I need it!
