Why did you choose this?

Need to hold up my thermometer.

The standard pot clip doesn't provide enough options.

Needing to use on pot

I thought it was a coat hanger

Which thermometer works best with the pot clip?

This works best with the probes that leave-in thermometers use. These leave-in thermometers include ChefAlarm, DOT, and Smoke, ThermaQ Blue, or ThermaQ WiFi.

It has 4 holes: 2@ 5/32" (4mm) and 2@ 1/8" (3.5mm).

Will this work with the normal high temperature probe that comes with the Smoke and ChefAlarm? There's no mention of this in the description, which I think is an oversight, since the diameters are different than the diameter of the probe as well as the other probe clip, which are both 0.13in. This is puzzling. Which probes was this made for?

Yes, it will. This pot clip works with all of the Pro-Series probes.

I recently ordered the multi-hole probe clip along with a ChefAlarm but it will not attach firmly attach securely to the rim of the pot I use for deep frying. It is so loose that it will not hold the probe steady. Suggestions?

I'm sorry about that. You may try bending the tab that's folded on the inside some way to hold better. That combined with putting the tab either on the inside or outside of the pot wall may help it hold better. We try to make these probe clips as universal as possible. They may not fit all pots as well as others.

Would you recommend using this with a Thermopop to monitor oil temperature?

We do not recommend using a pot clip with the ThermoPop. The ThermoPop is an instant-read thermometer (versus a leave-in thermometer) and is meant to take quick temperatures as you hold it with your hand.

The operating range of the body of the ThermoPop (the plastic part) is 32 to 122°F. As steam is much hotter than 122°F, exposing the body of the ThermoPop to steam for more than a few seconds at a time (as it would be with a pot clip) is likely to melt it.

If you need to monitor foods or liquids for a sustained period of time, we recommend a leave-in thermometer, such as the DOT, BlueDOT, ChefAlarm, Smoke, Smoke X, Signals, or ThermaQ WiFi or ThermaQ Blue. The ChefAlarm comes with a pot clip.

I ordered this clip to use with the Dot, but the probe of the Dot slides right through and will rest on the bottom of my pan, resulting in inaccurate readings.  Why is it so loose?

The Multi-hole Probe Clip features 4 different ports to accommodate different-sized probes. Consider testing your probe in the smaller holes until you find the right fit for your application. There is also our other Pot Clip that fits the DOT probe. You can find it here: https://www.thermoworks.com/tx-1007x-pc/

will this clip work with the very thin waterproof probe?

Hi Linda,

The Multi-hole Probe Clip is not compatible with the Waterproof Needle Probe due to the thin size of the probe.

How can I measure oven temperature using the pot clip? Where should the rack and clip be positioned?

You wouldn't uses a pot clip. Instead, you will use a grate clip, which can be found here:

This article explains how to test your oven for accuracy:

will this fit the thermapen mk4?

We do not recommend that you use a Thermapen with a pot clip, as it is an instant-read thermometer and is best used to take quick temperatures. There is not a pot clip designed for the Thermapen, as the shape and weight of the Thermapen's body prevents it from balancing well on the side of a pan. If used this way, your Thermapen could easily fall into the liquid and be ruined.

Instead, the ChefAlarm is a good choice; it comes with a probe and a pot clip.
