The Super-Fast® Thermapen has been a favorite among restaurant chains, health inspectors and quality managers worldwide. Hundreds of thousands are in use. The clever fold-away probe and the simple pocket design replace more costly and bulky handheld thermometers while using the same professional thermocouple technology. This new generation Thermapen introduces a robust, splash-proof design with molded-in seals to protect the thermometer from wet hands and kitchen splashes.

Get all the great features of the Classic Super-Fast Thermapen in an air measurement. Includes calibration certificate.

No Cables!
The components most likely to fail in a commercial thermometer are the cable and its connector. Also, the typical handheld meter and probe combination requires two hands. What do you do with the cable when you're through with it? The competition want you to wrap it around the meter, which is time consuming and a natural trap for grime and bacteria! The one-handed Thermapen eliminates frayed cables, snags, germ traps and wasted time while freeing your second hand.

Simple Operation
Just open the probe and the Thermapen comes on. Close it and it shuts off. No buttons or switches to catch germs, confuse staff and cause errors. Configuration settings in the battery compartment allow management to easily set the Thermapen for °F or °C, read in tenths or whole degrees (0.1° or 1°), and disable the auto-off for continuous readings till the probe is closed. Although likely to never be needed, a calibration trim button fine-tunes the Thermapen calibration at a single temperature such as an ice-bath.

Works great for very accurate sauna readings
I purchased the Air Thermapen as I wanted an accurate measurement of our sauna. The thermometers that come in most saunas are notoriously inaccurate or aren't placed correctly. This allows me to measure the temperature accurately and at any location within the enclosure. It was probably a little more then I wanted to spend for this purpose but it looks like a product that will serve me well for years to come.

Excellent for HVAC applications
Extremely quick and accurate for moving air but in still air like a room or refrigerator it isn't any faster than the standard thermopen.

Compact accurate thermometer
Using this to calibrate outdoor wireless temperature sensors. Takes a minute to equilibrate, but very reproducible readings. I trust it for reference on freezing temperatures, for decisions about whether water trailer valves need to be drained or not on a horse farm.

How long is "adequate" time for Air Thermapen to measure ambient temperatures within my home with reasonable accuracy? (Manual only says "The probe should be allowed adequate time to stabilize to the temperature of the item to be measured.") Four seconds?: fine. Sixty seconds? Not fine.

In this case, we didn't add a speed specification because in air temperature, you can see vast differences between moving air and stagnant air. You will get a faster response time if you wave it through the air or have it sitting by a vent with blowing air. If it is just sitting on a counter away from any vent, it will take longer.

Will the leather wallet fit the air thermopen? Also, which silicone boot fits air thermopen?

Your purchase of the Air Thermapen includes a padded zippered case. If you wish to purchase an additional case, the leather wallet fits nicely.

Is there a reason I can’t simply use my ONE to measure the air temp vs this Air Thermapen? I’m trying to understand if there is any benefit to this considering I already own the ONE.

We don't recommend testing penetration-style thermometers (such as a Thermapen ONE) to measure air temperatures, because of the many factors that can affect the reading. You will see the changes in temperature as the probes pick up the air that flows across them, the temperature of the countertop, even the heat from your hands if the probe tips are touched. The response time does vary depending on the sensor type.

Penetration probes read more slowly in air. This is because penetration probes are designed to be penetrated into something and the sensor takes some time to adjust to the ambient air. On the other hand, the Air Thermaan class='blacklist'>pen is specifically designed to measure air.

Would this pen be able to measure water temperature also?

We would not recommend that you measure water with an Air Thermapen. It has hole in the sheath which exposes the thermocouple. Exposing this area to liquids could damage the sensor. This is why we say that only the body has a water-resistant design. Instead, we recommend that you use a Thermapen ONE to measure water temperatures.

Would this be good for measuring refrigerator temp?
