The Pro-Series High Temp Cooking Probe has a 6" long probe with a right angle bend for easy pulling from meats or turkeys. Probe tip and sensor read temperatures to 572°F for deep-frying. Good general-purpose probe that reaches the center of large roasts and turkeys.

Designed for use in the commercial kitchens and professional settings, the Pro-Series Probes deliver better accuracy, faster readings, unique designs, wider temperature ranges and better moisture resistance than the probes sold with low-cost “houseware-grade” temperature alarms.

Good but missing clip
The probe is great, I've been using it with your ChefAlarm for over a decade, replacing the probe 2-3 times. Unfortunately I didn't see that this probe no longer includes the clip for use with a cooking pot and don't feel like paying shipping for a $4 order...

Great probe.
Been using chef alarm with this probe for several years and never had a problem. Biggest problem is how to put in case without severely bending wire but I've been fortunate. Will be ordering new one just incase. Also temp readings are very accurate.

Accurate but fragile
Accurate but fragile.

I love signals & blows, but these are the weak link. They are very fragile and break easily. I got about a year and a half out of these before it broke, maybe ten cooks or so.

I've created some of the best BBQ using this system, just really fragile

Breaks constantly
I have replaced this probe 3 times now. It lasts for 10 smokes or so. Keep in mind I have been extremely careful with my 3rd probe, making sure to clean and dry it as quickly as possible, and removing any kinks whenever I use it. I'm quite frustrated at how quickly these break. The device itself has been working great.

Incredibly frail
I really need this probe for my work but it is really so frail like other reviewers say. Three of them have been dead just past a month. I have been using them very carefully since I realized that they are very frail but keep dying. When it is broken, the temperature on the monitor says "HHH". I really should ask them to replace.

Too fragile.
Great while the last. Unfortunately the last one that died lead to a full Traeger of overcooked ribs before I figured out what was going on. These need to be way more robust for the price point, but there aren't any other options. I seem to get about 10 months of very light use out of these.

Too Frail!!
I've gone through more than 4 of these so far. I use them in my Weber Smokey Mountain a few times per week. They're great while they last, but they keep failing. I'm now down to 1 working meat probe for my Signals (which comes with 3) and Smoke (which came with 1)...plus replacements that I've purchased. I'm very careful with them, never submerge them. I route the cable through the silicon gromet when I run it into the smoker, and try to avoid letting the cable touch the metal grate inside. It's IMPOSSIBLE to route these in/out of an oven without touching metal of the over door. I'm about to switch to wireless because of the extra money I keep spending on probes.

35 Questions
Why did you choose this?

The probe cords give out, regardless of how careful we are to keep them from kinking or touching oven racks, so I am purchasing extras.

The one I have is malfunctioning.

How do you clean the Pro-Series High Temp Cooking Probe that comes with the Smoke?

To clean the probe, carefully wipe down the stainless steel cable with a slightly damp, soapy cloth or paper towel. Do not put the probe in the dishwasher or place the entire probe in a sink of water. Submerging the cable can cause damage.

Is the underlying sensor a k-type thermocouple?

No, it is not. Pro-Series probes use thermistor technology.

What is the max temperature of the plastic connector on the temp probe? The specs indicate 700F cable max temp but the plastic part melted while searing a roast so I'm thinking the metal portion is 700F max and the plastic connector is lower.

The transitions max temp is 644°F (340°C). It is important to remember that even if your oven is set to a lower temperature, racks and heating elements can get much hotter than the air will. It is important to keep the probe’s cable and transition away from them.

Waterproof? Can I use it inside a ham while it's boiling.... Other probes short circuit

You could use this probe for this application; however, you'll need to make sure that the transition and the cable stay out of the boiling water, as they are not waterproof. Use a pot clip to set things up.

We do have probe that is completely waterproof; however, it is only 3 inches long.

Might be a dumb question but can you use a second meat probe in the Theroworks Smoke in lieu of the temp probe? Comes with one meat and one temp but I'd rather use two meat probes.

Yes, you can use two meat probes with your Smoke. Both channels work with any of our Pro-Series probes.

does this probe include a clip for use with a sauce pot?

No, it does not come with a pot clip. You may purchase one separately. Here is the pot clip that is used with this probe.

Are these RTD PT-100 probes?

The Pro-Series line of probes utilizes a thermistor sensor not an RTD sensor.

Will using the high temp cooking probe to monitor the ambient air temperate damage the probe? I was looking to monitor the temperature of two separate bbq pits without buying a second air temp probe. In the past, I have used a 1/2 an onion to secure temp probe at grate level.

You can use the High Temp Cooking Probe to accurately measure air temperature. An onion or a potato will both work to hold it in place. However, we recommend using the High Temp Air Probe because it was specifically designed to accurately read air temperature, has a smaller probe length so it stays out of the way while cooking, and has a blunted tip to avoid injury.

Can I put it under the lid of my grill?

Yes, you can.

Want to confirm if the 6" length is only the straight portion, not including the curve/bend?

The straight portion, not including the bend is 6" long. The actual length exceeds 6".
