Meant for use inside a fridge or freezer, the new ThermoWorks RT615 water-resistant digital thermometer turns off to save battery power when door is shut and powers on automatically with the presence of light. Typical battery life is 5 years. It displays temperature on a large-digit, high-contrast display with a safety zone visual alert when the temperature reading is above 46°F (8°C). A convenient built-in hanging clip can be used to hang the thermometer from a refrigerator rack or can also be swung down to use as a kick stand. With a waterproof rating to IP65, no condensation will ingress during use at low temperatures. It's easy to use, easy to install, and easy to read temperature. What is an IP Rating?

An IP rating, also known as "International Protection" or "Ingress Protection" rating, is a value assigned to a product that determines its susceptibility to ingress from solids and liquids. The first numeric digit relates to the level of protection against solid objects, and the second numeric digit indicates the level of protection against liquid ingress. Auto-Off Feature
The RT615 includes a light sensor that powers the unit off when deprived of light. When used with refrigerators that power internal lights off when the door closes, the RT615 will turn off to save battery power. When the door opens and light is available to the unit, the RT615 will power on automatically displaying the current temperature.
